Quidway® NetEngine 80 Core Router Main Processing Units
Quidway® NetEngine 80 Core Router
Overview
The Main Processing Unit (MPU) is the core of the Quidway
(abbreviated to NE80).
The NE80 has 20 slots, of which two are for MPUs. The MPU is hot-pluggable. One or two MPUs
are required for each NE80. It is recommended that two MPUs be configured to implement
redundancy backup and improve the system reliability. When the active MPU runs normally, the
standby MPU backs up status information in real time, such as configuration data, slot status, board
status, interface status, power status, fan status and protocol status.
When a severe fault occurs to the active MPU or the active MPU is manually reset, the system will
switch over to the standby MPU for running (supporting automatic switchover and manual
switchover by commands), generate alarms, log it and notify the network management
system(NMS). Switchover reason and process are recorded into the system diagnosis information
database for analysis.
The MPU implements global functions of the whole system, such as routing processing, resource
management, status monitoring and network management(NM) agent.
Process routing protocols, generate the forwarding table and deliver it to line cards.
As an agent for user operations, manage the system, monitor system performance and report
equipment running status to users according to users' operation instructions.
Monitor and maintain running states of LPUs.
Monitor and maintain running states of switching networks and clocks.
Monitor running states of the fan system and power system.
