9 Web Service SCAN

Preparing "Web Service Scan"

Planning and preparation

The Web Service Scan operations are performed on client computers via a network connected
using the features in Windows Vista. Images scanned in this equipment can be stored in your
client PC. You can store images scanned with this equipment into a client computer, or you can
retrieve images from applications supporting WIA (Windows Imaging Acquisition) Scan Drier of
a client computer into this equipment.In this section a procedure for storing images scanned with
this equipment into a client computer.For operations on a client computer, follow the procedure
provided by your application that supports the WIA Scan Driver.
Web Service Scan requires the optional expansion memory (GC-1230) to be installed to the
equipment.

Web Service Scan is available under the following environments:

WIA(Windows Imaging Acquisition) Scan Driver-compliant application
For e-STUDIO281c/351c/451:
Be sure to enable the Web Service Scan setting on TopAccess before using Web Service
Scan. Refer to the TopAccess Guide for setting Web Service Scan.
Color documents larger than A4/LT set at 600dpi and placed on the original glass will be
scanned at 400 dpi. Any size of color documents set at 600dpi and fed from the document
feeder will also be scanned at 400 dpi.

Installing a Driver

Use the WIA(Windows Imaging Acquisition) Scan driver included in Windows Vista.
A driver for Web Services Scanning is automatically installed as well as the client software of
Web Services Printing. For the installation procedure, see "Installing Client Software for Web
Services Printing" in the Printing Guide.
