Starting Up/Shutting Down Starting Up Power Switch Open up the display Lift the latch and open up the display. N O T E Do not turn on the computer with the LCD panel closed if an external monitor is not connected. The computer will not power on. Turn your computer on Move the power switch toward the rear direction and hold it there for about one second until the power indicator goes on before releasing it.

Battery Power Replacing the Battery Pack When the charge provided by your battery pack is supplied for only a short period of time, even after fully charging according to the instructions, it may be time to replace your battery pack. The battery pack is a consumable item and therefore will require replacement [CF-VZS250A (Ni-MH) or CF-VZS251 (Li-Ion)].

When you want to prevent theft of or damage to data by using a floppy disk You may choose to protect the data on your computer from being accessed illegally or overwrit- ten accidentally by using a floppy disk. You can also set your computer to be unbootable from a floppy disk.

Using PC Cards Your computer has three PC Card slots. These slots conform to the PC Card Standard; there- fore, communications and SCSI devices may be utilized. The slots allow you to use three Type I or Type II cards (or two Type I and one Type II), or one Type III card. Type Three cards can be used simultaneously.

Reinstalling Software Before Reinstallation Preparing You will need the backup disks (you earlier made copies of ROM (only use enclosed CD-ROM) and a blank floppy disk for the startup disk.
