ServeRAID M5120 Controller Descriptions and Limitations The ServeRAID M5120 SAS/SATA controller is a PCI-Express 3.0, half- size, half-height RAID controller based on the LSISAS2208 PCI Express- SAS/SATA I/O Processor chip. The ServeRAID M5120 SAS/SATA controller controls eight external 6-Gb/s SAS/SATA ports through two SFF-8088 x4 external mini SAS connectors.
General Description The ServeRAID-M5120 controller brings 6.0 Gb/s Serial Attached SCSI and 6.0 Gb/s Serial ATA III performance to host controller, workstation, and server designs. The controller can connect by cable to an external enclosure that contains storage devices, allowing you to use a system that supports enterprise-class SAS drives and desktop-class SATA drives.

Detailed Installation This section provides detailed instructions for installing a ServeRAID M5120 controller, transportable memory module, and flash power module. Before you install the controller, make sure that the preinstalled expansion-slot bracket is the correct size for the server PCI Express slot in which you are installing the controller.
