The Kenmore(K90) is a gas-fireddirect vent hot waterboiler with castaluminumboiler sections. A
revolutionary castaluminumheatexchangermeans betterheattransferandthermalstoragethan
similarly sizedcastiron boilers, which resultsin higher efficiency. The heatingsystemwaterabsorbs
large amountsof heatfrom the castaluminumheatexchanger, c oolingthe flue gases andcausing
condensation. Sealedcombustion, premix gasburner, andlow flame temperature meansdrastically
reducedCO and NOx emissions, which contributeto a cleanerandhealthierenvironment.
The K90, unlike normal residentialatmosphericandinduceddraft units, takesits combustionair
directly from the outdoors(sealed combustion)anddoesnot competewith building occupants for fresh
air. Sealedcombustion(alsoknown as "direct vent") is the safestandbestway to obtainplentyof
clean combustionair. The induceddraft fan drawsin the outsidecombustionair, then takesthe cooler
flue gasesfrom the boiler unit andprovidesa positive removalof the flue gases from the building
through inexpensiveandreadily availablePVC andCPVC pipes.
