Stopped-down AE Photography
There are basically
two
cases whic
h
require
stopped-down AE pho
togr

you
use any lens which is
not FD
such
as FL or R lenses
ot
the Re
flex

With the exceptions
of the
FD·U
extension tubes or Extenders,
it is also necessary whenever any
accessory
is inserted between the camera and a.-iy lens
for increasing the lens' focal length
or
for
increasing lens
extension
for
higher magni·
fications in close-ups
or
phot
omacrogr aph y.
It is, of cour
se,
also n
ecessary in
photo·
mic rography.
IL is
possible,
but
no~
neces·
sary, to use
th
e
stopp
ed-down
AE mode
when an FD lens
is moun ted
directly onto
the
camera
with no accessory in-between.
In
the
stopped-down AE m
ode, exposure
me tering will be d one
n
ot at full aperture
as
usual but,
rather,
at the same
aperture that
the picture will
actually
be taken.
