the bolt
makes
it
push
against
pin
(5).
Through the linkage,
this moves
the
breaker
latch,
and
makes
it
impos-
sible to close
the
breaker.
When
the breaker
is
closed, the metal plate as-
sembly
is
away
from link
(6) and
the
torsion spring
causes
pin
(3)
to
move into the path
of
the lock's
bolt,
which cannot then be extended.
ACCESSORTES
Accessories available
for
use
on the
AIG-50
breakers are,
in
most
cases,
the
same
devices
used
throughout
the entire line
of
AK
breakers.
Minor
differences
in
mounting and location
may
exist, but most of the devices themselves are iden-
tical.

Maintenance operations,
such
as
adding,
re-
placing, and adjusting these
components
wili
be
dealt
with
in
the
maintenance
portion
of
these
in-
structions; only
a
description of the device
and
the
function
it
serves
will
be dealt
with here.
SHUNT
TRIP
The shunt
trip
device opens the breaker
when
its
coil is
energized.
An
frA't auxiliary
switch,
which
is
closed only when the
breaker
is
closed, is
in
series with the
device
coil.
Connections are
made
to
the external
tripping
source
through sec-
ondary disconnects on drawout breakers,
or
to
the
arxiliary
switch
and
terminal board
on
stationary
breakers.
On
the
breaker,
the shunt
trip
is
mounted on the
bottom
of
the
breaker frame
in
a
central location.
