If you do not follow these instructions exactly, a fire or explosion

hand.Whenlightingthepilot,followtheseinstructions
exactly.

for gas. Be sure to smell next to the floor because
somegasis heavier thanair and willsettleon thefloor.

knob.Never use tools,ff the knobwill not pushin or
turn byhand,don'ttry to repair it, cell a qualifiedser-

INSTRUCTIONS
1. STOP!Read thesafetyinformation aboveon this label.
2. Remove outerdoor.
3. Set the thermostatto lowest setting by turning the
watertemperature dialclockwise, ( (

temperature setting (witharrowon dial)as shown.DO
NOT FORCE.
4. Turngascontrolknobclockw-- ise _,
_ to ",OFF" posi-
tion. Knobcannotbe turned from 'PILOT to "OFF"
unlessknob is depressed slightly. D O NOT FORCE.

5. Waitfive (5) minutesto clear out any gas. If you then
smellgas, STOP!Follow B in the safety information
aboveon this label.If you don'tsmell gas, go to the
nextstep.
6. Remove(or open)inner door locatedbelowthe gas
control u nit.(Figure 9, page15)
7. Findpilot-follow metaltube fromgas control.The pilot
islocatedontherighthandsideof theburner.

8. If youdon'tsmellgas,turnknobon gascontrolcounter
clockwise_ _ (_ to"PILOT"position. ( Figure7, page15)
9. Push in control knob all the way and hold down.
Immediately lightthe pilot with a match.Continue to
hold control knob in for aboutone (1) minuteafter
the pilot is lit. Releaseknoband it will pop backup.
Pilot shouldremainlit. If it goes out, repeatsteps3
through8.
• If knobdoes not pop up whenreleased, s top andl
immediatelycall your service technicianor gasl
supplier.
• If the pilot will not stay lit after several tries,
depress_
_ and turn, t he gascontrolknobclockwise

10. Replace(or close) inner door.Replaceouterdoor if
door does not cover gas controlon/offknobor tem-

11. At armslengthaway,turngascontrolknobcounter-
clockwise _
to the full "ON" position.

12. At arms length away,set the thermostatto desired
setting. T he mark( • ) HOTindicative of approximate
120°F is preferredstarting point. Some local laws
may requirea lowerstartingpoint.If hotterwateris
desired,seeinstruction manualand"warning" below.
13.Replace theouterdoorif notreplaced in step10.
