Model SBGA-34
Audible Base
INTRODUCTION
The Model
SBGA-34 Audible Base from Siemens Industry, Inc., consists of a standard Series 11 base
combined with an audible device compatible with all H-series, 8700 series, Desigo and Cerberus series
addressable detectors. All field wiring terminates at two four-position terminal blocks located on the back
of the unit. The SBGA-34 is used with the polarity insensitive HFP-11, HFPT-11, HFPO-11, SFP-11*,
SFPT-11* and SFPO-11*, 8710, 8712, 8713, FDO421, FDT421, FDOT421, FDOOT441, FDOOTC441,
OP921, OH921, HI921, OOH941, OOHC941 detectors. The SBGA-34 operates as described below
(Refer to Figures 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 for proper wiring connections).
*SFP-11, SFPT-11 and SFPO-11 detectors are approved for use in CANADA only.

polarity must be maintained or audible base will not operate properly.
Each audible base must be tested to verify operation.
2. Use a Model MPI-2 mounting plate to mount a HTRI-R in a System 3
enclosure. HTRI-R relay should be programmed to activate on
appropriate alarm condition. For more detailed wiring information, refer
to the HTRI-R Installation Instructions, P/N 315-033300.

  • Page 5: Application Note

When used to follow the NAC tone pattern, the SBGA-34 must be set to steady tone and the panel it is connected to must be configured accordingly for the desired application. This allows the SBGA-34 to transition from one tone to another (example from temporal 4 to temporal 3) if the proper criteria is met and allows it to be synchronized with the NAC zone that it is connected.

SBGA-34 Audible Base Terminal Blocks TONE SELECTION With audible base Model SBGA-34, the user can choose either temporal tone (Temporal 3 or Temporal 4) or steady tone (Refer to figure 8). For Temporal Tone: Terminal 3 and 4 are shorted (insert a jumper)  Default setting is Temporal 3 To Select Temporal 4: Open the unit by unscrewing the DB-11 connected to the base Move the J3 jumper to 2-3 position and refit the DB-11 to the base.
  • Page 8: Detector Mounting

The detector base comes from the factory prewired. All signaling and initiating circuits are connected directly to the back of the SBGA-34 audible base using the four-position terminal blocks. NOTE: The Audible Base Model SBGA-34 attaches only to a 4-inch square electrical box with extension. Mounting the Base Route all wires out from the outlet box.
