861394 Charger Instructions for Use
The 861394 charger is intended for indoor use only, with the rechargeable
989803150191 training battery for the HeartStart FR3 defibrillator. Refer to
the FR3 Instructions for Administrators for battery and charger specifications.
See the inside front cover of this manual for a labeled illustration of the
charger.
1. Place the charger on a level surface.
2. Ensure that the power cord supplied with the charger is correct for your
AC power outlet. Connect the power cord to the connector port (A) on
the left side of the charger and to an AC power outlet. Observe the LEDs
to confirm operation:
• AC-power indicator LED (B): on green continuously.
• Charge status LED (C): flashes red and green alternately for one
second, then turns off unless the battery is already inserted when the
charger is powered on. (See step 4.)
3. Insert the rechargeable battery into the battery well (D) of the charger.
4. The charge process begins automatically. Observe the charge status
LED (C).
• Blinking green: The battery is charging.
• Solid green: The battery is fully charged.
• Red: Charging has stopped due to failure during the charge process.
Remove the battery from the charger and check the battery and charger
contacts. If needed, disconnect the power cord from AC power, remove the
battery and clean the contacts on the charger and the battery with isopropyl
alcohol and a cotton swab. Reinstall the battery and reconnect the power
cord to AC power. If the charge status LED is still red, check the battery and
charger temperature.* If temperatures are within range, disconnect the
power cord and contact Philips customer service.
• Continuously alternating red and green: The battery cannot be charged
and needs to be replaced.
NOTE: Typically, a full charge takes no more than 3 hours. The battery
should be fully charged before being put back into use. When charging is
complete, disconnect the battery from the charger and disconnect the
charger from AC power.
* For safety reasons, if the battery or charger temperature is hot to the touch — above
120° F (45° C) — it will not charge until cooled.
