The difference between updating and upgrading may seem small but mean in prac-
tice two different things.
Updating is easily explained as e.g. renewing/correcting an integrated firmware

(revision)
Upgrading could mean both changing to new functions (version/generation) and

replacing units.
Expansion is of course some kind of addition to the system. In a wireless system

if new RF30-EM Codoors are added the RF9 routers might have to be reposi-
tioned, new routers added or even additional segment controller(s) could be re-
quired.
Both SR35i and the door controllers DC12 and DC22 are hard-wired and the up-
date is best described in the Bewator Entro Installation Manual.
The Installer PC program has menu commands for managing firmware updates.
New firmware is sent from the PC via the same connection, networked or direct,
that is used for access control.
We recommend that only one controller at a time is updated. The firmware version
to be installed is selected explicitly.
The RF30-EM may be updated with new firmware from the PC via the system's
communication path. The new version is read from the hard disk.
We recommend that all updates are performed step by step and verification is
done for each. Remember that during an update the system may have limited func-
tionality.
Proceed as follows:
1. Start Installer and choose System/System information.
All controllers are listed on the screen showing the status for the different

units (address, product, version, voltage level). A cross marks the icon for
any controller which fails to communicate.
2. Click on Update firmware – and select which version to download.
3. Click on Next and mark the unit to be updated.
4. Click on Finish. A progress bar is displayed for each controller showing the
remaining time (which can be long)
Note that during the phase of downloading the RF30-EM will operate normally
– but while accomplishing the update it will not (when all LEDs are flashing
slowly).
