Use of an incompatible AC adaptor could cause fire or damage to the computer possibly resulting in serious injury.

While holding down the palm rest with one hand so that the main body of the computer is not raised, slowly lift the display panel - this will allow the angle of the display panel to be adjusted to provide optimum clarity.

    TECRA A10/S10/M10/SatellitePro S300 Make sure the Hard Disk Drive/Optical Disc Drive indicators are off. If you turn off the power while a disk (disc) is being accessed, you may lose data or damage the disk. Never turn off the power while an application is running. Doing so could cause loss of data.
  • Page 27 When the AC adaptor is connected, the computer will go into Sleep Mode according to the settings in the Power Options (to access it, Start -> Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> Power Options). To restore the operation of the computer from Sleep Mode, press and hold the power button or any key on the keyboard for a short amount of time.

When the computer is in Sleep Mode, the power indicator will blink orange. If you are operating the computer on battery power, you can lengthen the overall operating time by turning it off into Hibernation Mode - Sleep Mode will consume more power while the computer is off.

Do not insert a PC Card while the computer is in Sleep Mode or Hibernation Mode as you may find that some cards do not work properly. To insert a PC Card, follow the steps as detailed below: 1.

    The maximum capacity of SD memory cards is 2GB. The maximum capacity of SDHC memory cards is 16GB. Card Type SDHC Memory media format New media cards are formatted according to specific standards. If you wish to reformat a media card, be sure to do so with a device that uses media cards.

    TECRA A10/S10/M10/SatellitePro S300 Memory card care Set the write-protect switch to the lock position, if you do not want to record data. Memory cards have a limited lifespan, so it is important to backup important data. Do not write to a card if the battery power is low. Low power could affect writing accuracy.
  • Page 75 Make sure memory media is oriented properly before you insert it. If you insert the media in wrong direction, you may not be able to remove it. When inserting memory media, do not touch the metal contacts. You could expose the storage area to static electricity, which can destroy data.

This section describes how to install and remove optional memory modules.
