Diagnostics alarms

A diagnostics alarm is output for each diagnostics event. On the I/O device
DI 16x24VDC M12-L 8xM12 the LED ER/MS flashes red. You can read out the diagnostics
alarms in the diagnostics buffer of the CPU, for example. You can evaluate the error codes
with the user program.

Meaning
Fault in the external circuitry
Encoder faulty
Load resistance too high
Impedance of encoder circuitry is too high Use a different encoder type or modify
Interruption of cable between the I/O
device and sensor.
Channel not connected (open)
I/O device cannot evaluate parameters
H
for the channel
Incorrect parameter assignment
The I/O device cannot trigger an interrupt
H
because the previous interrupt was not
acknowledged; possible configuration

Short-circuit to ground
H
Interrupts/diagnostics alarms
Corrective measures
Check the external circuitry and correct
the fault.
Replace the encoder.
Reduce the load resistance.
the wiring. For example, use cables with a
larger cross-section.
Establish the connection.
Disable diagnostics
Connect a resistor of 25 kΩ to 45 kΩ
to the encoder contacts.
Correct the parameter assignment.
Change the interrupt handling on the
CPU. Reassign the parameters to the
I/O device, if necessary.
The error persists until the I/O device is
assigned new parameters.
Correct the process wiring.
Replace the defective encoder.
