Dell Latitude LT Series — Using the System Software Recovery CD
To reinstall the operating system, perform the following steps.
1.
If you have not already done so, back up your application programs and data.
See your operating system documentation for more information on backing up
your system.
2.
Turn off your computer, and disconnect any peripheral devices except the
external diskette drive and the CD-ROM drive.
3.
Connect the external CD-ROM drive to the computer and turn it on.
4.
Turn on the computer.
When the message 3UHVV)!WRHQWHU6HWXS appears, press <F2>.
5.
The Setup Utility starts.
Insert the System Software Recovery CD into the CD-ROM drive.

NOTES: The system takes about 5 seconds to recognize a CD. If you proceed too
quickly, an error message may appear. If this happens, remove the CD, restart
your computer, and insert the System Software Recovery CD into the CD-ROM
drive.
Use the System Software Recovery CD only for your Dell Latitude LT computer.
7 .
In the Exit menu, select Load Setup Defaults and press <Enter> twice.
8.
In the Main menu, select CD-ROM Drive as the first device of the Boot
Sequence option.
9.
Press <Esc>, and press <Enter> twice.
The system restarts.
10. Read the message and press <Enter>.
11. Follow the instructions on the screen.
12. After the hard-disk drive is recovered, remove the System Software Recovery CD
and press any key.
The system restarts.
13. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the operating system setup.
14. After completing the setup, click the Start button, and click Shut Down.
