5. Disconnect the negative (black) cable from
the negative (-) battery post, if it isn't already
disconnected (Figure 4).
Incorrect battery cable routing could damage
the tractor and cables causing sparks. Sparks
can cause the battery gasses to explode,
resulting in personal injury.
• Always disconnect the negative (black)
battery cable before disconnecting the
positive (red) cable.
• Always connect the positive (red) battery
cable before connecting the negative (black)
cable.
6. Disconnect the positive (red) cable from the positive
(+) battery post (Figure 4).
7. Lift the battery off of the platform.
8. Remove the filler caps from the battery.
Battery electrolyte contains sulfuric acid which
is a deadly poison and causes severe burns.
• Do not drink electrolyte and avoid contact
with skin, eyes or clothing. Wear safety
glasses to shield your eyes and robber gloves
to protect your hands.
• Fill the battery where clean water is always
available for flushing the skin.
9. Slowly pour electrolyte into each cell until the
electrolyte level is up to the lower part of the tube
(Figure 5).

10. Leave the covers off and connect a 3 to 4 amp
battery charger to the battery posts (Figure 6).

11. Charge the battery at a rate of 4 amperes or less for
4 hours (12 volts).
Charging the battery produces gasses that can
explode.
Never smoke near the battery and keep sparks
and flames away from battery.
12. When the battery is fully charged, unplug the charger
from the electrical outlet, then disconnect the
charger leads from the battery posts (Figure 6).
13. Slowly pour electrolyte into each cell until the level is
once again up to the upper line on the battery case
(Figure 5) and install the covers.
14. Install the battery onto the platform (Figure 4).
