    Expansion RAM Slot BOTTOM COMPONENTS The following is a brief description of your LifeBook’s bottom panel components. Main Unit and Configuration Label The configuration label shows the model number and other information about your LifeBook. In addition, the configuration portion of the label has the serial number and manufacturer information that you will need to give your support representative.

    Identifier AC Adapter Status Indicator Panel The Status Indicator displays symbols that correspond with a specific component of your Fujitsu LifeBook. These symbols tell you how each of those components are operating. (Figure 2-8) POWER INDICATOR The Power indicator symbol states whether your system is operational.

    P O I N T If there is no battery activity, the power adapters are not connected, or the power switch is Off, the Battery Level indicator will also be off. BATTERY CHARGING INDICATOR Located to the left of the Battery Level indicator is a small arrow symbol.

    Fn Key Keyboard USING THE KEYBOARD Your Fujitsu LifeBook has an integral 87-key keyboard. The keys perform all the standard functions of a 101-key keyboard, including the Windows keys and other special function keys. This section describes the following keys.

    FUNCTION KEYS Your LifeBook has 12 function keys, F1 through F12. The functions assigned to these keys differ for each application. You should refer to your software documentation to find out how these keys are used. The [FN] key provides extended functions for the LifeBook and is always used in conjunction with another key.

    Touchpad Pointing Device The Touchpad pointing device comes built into your Fujitsu LifeBook. It is used to control the movement of the pointer to select items on your display panel. The Touchpad is composed of a cursor control, a left and right button, and a scrolling button.

    Power Sources Your Fujitsu LifeBook has three possible power sources: a primary Lithium ion battery, an AC adapter or an optional Auto/Airline adapter. CONNECTING THE POWER ADAPTERS The AC adapter or optional Auto/Airline adapter provides power for operating your LifeBook and charging the batteries.

    Lithium ion Battery Your Fujitsu LifeBook has a Lithium ion battery that provides power for operating your LifeBook when no external power source is available. The battery is durable and long lasting, but should not be exposed to extreme temperatures, high voltages, chemicals or other hazards.
