TVGuide Diagnostics Mode:
To access the TVGuide data section:
1)Press GUIDE button
2) Highlight SETUP on the top service bar
3) Press DOWN arrow one time to highlight the top menu item
4) Press "753159852"
Data item TypeC is the amount of good TVGuide packets received by the TV. This value can be found on
the "Section Reception Slicing" page. To access it, press the UP arrow 2 times.
Data Items:
Since Cold: List the total number of data packets the unit has received from any station
with TVGuide data since the last setup/reset.
HostChan: Number of data packets the unit has received from it host station
CurrChan: Number of packets the unit is receiving from the channel it is currently tuned
Starts and Ends: Amount of Gemstar Data packets the unit has seen
Drops: Amount of Gemstar packets being dropped/missed
TypeB: Amount of good B packets received. B Packets are used to transmit ads
BCorr: Amount of corrected B packets
BErrs: Amount of B packets with errors that could not be corrected
TypeC: Amount of good C packets received
CErrs: Amount of C packets with errors that could not be corrected
CBad: Amount of C packets rejected by unit
TotFrTape: A large number indicates that incorrect data is coming through
TVGuide VBI Slicing Test:
Only to be used with VBI test signal that has known good TVGuide data or at a time when TVGuide data is
known to be present (see figure1 on previous page).
1) Connect known good signal with TVGuide data to ANT1
2) Tune to channel with known good TVGuide data (or recorded VHS tape)
3) Press MENU > NetCommand > Guide
4) Enter: TVGOS --ON; ANT1 -- Checked; Zip Code can be any; then press EXIT
5) Press GUIDE button and then highlight SETUP
6) Press DOWN arrow followed by "971397135"
Let the test run.
1) VBI Test: PASS/FAIL
2) All other tests > IGNORE
Many cable providers are converting CableCARD lineups to be entirely digital. Mitsubishi models V26 -
V34 are unable to receive the TVGOS data via digital transmission.
1) Split the incoming cable signal to ANT2. Memorize channels on ANT2 as "AIR". Then
setup TVGOS for both ANT1 and ANT2. Within 48 hours the program listings will appear.
2) Contact the local cable provider to inform them that TVGOS data is no longer available on
analog channels or contact MDEA Consumer Relations dept.
