When using the MAV-555 in BVE mode, there is one port not used for
editing. For example, when the MAV-555 is in the 2-IN/2-OUT port
configuration (when the BKMA-510 option board is installed), in BVE mode
the status of the ports is as follows.
MAV-555 port Status
R1P1
Used as recorder (or player) for editing. Can be operated from BVE-
series editor.
P2
Used as player for editing. By loading a file under the control of the
MAVE-F555, the operation can be controlled from a BVE-series
editor.
R2
Not used for editing, but can be used for recording. However, cannot
be operated from a BVE-series editor.
Thus the spare port on the MAV-555 which is not used for editing is called the
"background port." By operating it from the MAVE-F555, this background
port can be used for recording or playback.
The background port is fixed, but depends on the circuit board configuration of
the MAV-555, as follows. Note that the application of the background port is
determined by the circuit board configuration.

can control the background port from the MAVE-F555 for line input recording
and so on.
Press the BG key of the MAVE-F555 to select the background port. An EE
image appears on the monitor screen connected to the MONITOR OUT
