Mnemonic referring t o the "Data Valid" control line.
D A V is used t o coordinate the "handshake" sequence.
T ' i e D A V line is controlled b y the source (talker). When
D A V is true, data o n the D l 0 lines is considered valid.
N R F D ( N o t Ready F o r Datal
Mnemonic referring t o the "Ready F o r Data" c o n t r o l
line.
N R F D is used t o coordinate the "handshake"
sequence. The N R F D line is controlled b y the acceptor
(Ilstener). When N R F D is true, the acceptor indicates t o
the source that he is ready t o accept data.
N D A C (Data N o t Accepted)
M n e m ~ n i c referring t o the "Data Accepted" control line.
N D A C is used t o coordinate the "handshake" sequence.
The N D A C line is controlled b y the acceptor (listener).
When N D A C i s true, the acceptor indicates t o the source
that the data o n the D l 0 lines has been accepted.

I F C (Interface Clear)
Mnemonic referring t o the "Interface Clear" c o n t r o l line.
I F C is used t o place the HP-IB system i n a k n o w n quies-
cent state. The I F C line is controlled b y the system
controller.
S R Q (Service Request)

Mnemonic referring t o the "Service
Request" control
line. S R Q is used ( b y any device having service request
capability) t o indicate t o the system controller that the
device requires service. The controller responds b y polling
the devices t o determine w h i c h device requested service.
A T N ( A t t e n t i o n )
Mnemonic referring t o the "Attention" control line. The
state of the A T N line determines whether the HP-IB is i n
the "Command mode" ( A T N true) or the "Data mode"
( A T N false). When A T N is true, all devices must listen t o
the data lines. and when A T N is false, only devices that
have been addressed w i l l actively transfer data.
R E N (Remote Enable)
Mnemonic referring t o the "Remote
Enable" control
line.
R E N is used i n conjunction w i t h listen addresses

illustrates the plug cap configurations
that are available to provide ac power to the Multimeter.
The -hp- part number shown directly below each plug cap
drawing is the part number for the power cord set
equipped with the appropriate mating plug for that
receptacle. The appropriate power cord should be
provided with each instrument. However, if a different
power cord set is required, notify the nearest -hp- Sales
and Service Office and a replacement cord will be
provided. The instrument ac power input receptacle and
cord set appliance coupler meet the safety specifications
set by the International Commission on Rules for the
Approval of Electrical Equipment (CEE 22).
