General

Additionally to the five wire SIM interface according to GSM 11.11 a CCIN Pin is added on
the ZIF connector of the TC35 module. This pin serves to sense mechanically whether a
card is inserted into the SIM card holder. The default level of this pin on TC35 is low (internal
pull down resistor, no card inserted) and
must be driven to high if the card is inserted!
Caution:
Before removing the SIM card be sure the GSM engine is in Power Down mode.
Failure to do so would seriously affect the serviceability of your GSM application,
though no damage would be caused to the SIM card itself.

Approval considerations

For Europe (R&TTE) it is not mandatory to provide an extra approval for the SIM card holder
used in conjunction with the TC35 GSM engine. However, should your application be
enhanced beyond the certified Siemens reference configuration, it is recommended that you
apply for an additional approval.
In other countries, you are required to obtain an extra approval when your SIM card holder
differs from the SIM interface schematics detailed below.
