Migrating root.dfs from UFS to Episode

After installing and configuring Enhanced DFS, if you want to migrate your
root.dfs from a UFS aggregate to an Episode fileset, use the following
procedure.
This is a complete, but condensed procedure. For details about the files and
commands used in this procedure, consult the OSF DCE DFS Reference Guide,
Revision 1.2.2. An HTML version of this document is provided in the Enhanced DFS
fileset EFS-DOCS, and installed in the directory /opt/dce/efs_docs.
1 Use the HP-UX Logical Volume Manager (LVM) to create the logical volume on
which you want to store the Episode file system. Be sure to select "None" for the
file system "Usage:" field for this logical volume. Alternatively, you can use the
entire physical disk for the Episode file system, in which case no special steps are
needed.
2 Add a line to the /var/opt/dce/dfs/dfstab file for the new Episode aggregate. For
example:
logical volume
/dev/vg00/lvol8 epi1
3 Use the newaggr command to initialize an available disk partition (logical
volume) as an Episode aggregate.
Example:
newaggr epi1 8192 1024 -overwrite
Executing the newaggr command will destroy all existing data on the specified
logical volume.
For this release of Enhanced DFS, HP recommends specifying a block size of 8192
and a fragment size of 1024.
4 Use the dfsexport command to export the Episode aggregate so it is available for
use in Enhanced DFS.
Example:
dfsexport -aggregate epi1
