Electrostatic Discharge Warning Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) can damage processors, memory, disks, accessory boards and other components. Before installing or replacing a component: 1 Do not take the new component out of its ESD package before connecting your wrist strap and ESD mat to a suitably earthed (grounded) point. 2 Do not forget to use the ESD package provided with the new part to return the old part.
Any shock may damage the drive and prevent it from functioning correctly. Hard disk drives already installed in HP Vectra PCs are also sensitive to shocks. If the PC’s system unit is knocked or dropped accidentally, this may cause damage to installed hard disk drives.

Chassis Intrusion Detection. If the cover is removed when the PC is switched off, an alert will be generated when the PC is next switched on. This alert can be monitored with HP TopTools. New Power Glitch Detection. If the power supply momentarily falls below 4.7 Volts, a reset is triggered and the PC automatically reboots.

Crisis Recovery Although the BIOS flash process is very well protected, there is always the possibility of a failure (for example, due to a power failure during the BIOS flash). To avoid replacing the motherboard due to corrupted EEPROM, a crisis recovery function has been created to restore the EEPROM contents.

Support Features Multi boot Another feature of the HP Vectra VL 6/xxx Series 8, is the capability to separate the idea of physical and logical disks, and the possibility to define a boot order independent from the physical connection of the disks to the IDE cable.
Beep Codes If a terminal error occurs during POST, the system issues a beep code before attempting to display the error in the upper left corner of the screen. Beep codes are useful for identifying the error when the system is unable to display the error message.

Connect the RPO/RWU(Wake On LAN) cable to the Wake On LAN connector on the backplane. If the network board is a 10-pin, HP network card, it must be plugged into the RPO connector on the backplane. The PCI WakeUp connector on the system board is already connected to the backplane.
