9.3 Filter GF1 (18)

Fit a new filter if the one fitted is very dirty (error message Err 1,
Poor throughflow) or contaminated by HC residues.

9.4 Sampling hose (17)

Check the sampling hose for damage. If you find HC residues or
condensate build-up, pull the hose off the measuring instrument
and blow it out with compressed air in the direction opposite to
the suction direction.

9.5 Inlet filter GF2 (16)

Fit a new filter if the one fitted is very dirty (error message LoFlo,
Poor throughflow) or contaminated by HC residues.
– Pull the hose (1) off the stub of the condensate collector.
– Unscrew the 2 fixing screws (2).
– Turn the cup (3) of the condensate collector anti-clockwise to
unscrew it.
– Unscrew the knurled screw (4) from the underside of the filter
element (5) and pull out the filter element.
– Push on a new filter element and fix it in place with the knurled
screw (4).
– Turn the cup (3) of the condensate collector clockwise to
screw it back in again.
– Secure the condensate collector to the retaining bracket using
the 2 fixing screws (2).
– Push the hose (1) back onto the stub of the condensate
collector.

9.6 Checking the stability of the readings

Pull the sampling hose off the test-gas inlet of the measuring
instrument.
! The air in the vicinity of the exhaust-gas measuring instrument
must not be contaminated with engine exhaust gases or
vapours from petrol or cleaning agents.
Switch on the pump by pressing the pump key p (3) on the
measuring instrument. Once the system check (approx. 30 s) has
been completed, the instrument displays the instantaneous mea-
sured values.
Adjust the displays of the gas measuring channels to their
maximum values for approx. 2 minutes and observe whether or
not the readings remain stable.
Limit of error for fluctuations (noise) of the readings of the gas
measuring channels:
CO display
0
HC display
0
After approx. 2 minutes, the HC display must have assumed a
stable value of < 12 ppm vol. End measurement by pressing the
pump key p (3).

9.7 Checking the flow monitoring system

Seal the test-gas inlet (11) on the rear of the measuring instrument
with your finger or seal the sampling probe with the test jack.
If the instrument is not in measurement mode:
– Press the pump key p (3).
The message informing you that the flow rate is too low must be
displayed.
L o F l o
i The pump is switched off after 30 s.
If this message is not displayed, there is a fault in the flow
monitoring system. Contact your Bosch After-Sales Service
representative and have him send someone to search for and
repair the fault.

9.8 Before switching off the instrument

Before the instrument is switched off, it must be flushed with
ambient air; this reduces the amount of contamination and
prevents premature ageing.
Procedure:
– Make sure that the sampling probe is in the open air (not in the
exhaust pipe).
– Press the pump key p and let the pump run for one minute.
– Press the pump key p again to end flushing.
