Read this manual thoroughly before handling the cage. In addition, refer to this guide whenever you want to know how to use the cage or some malfunction occurs.

Power Supply and Power Cord Use CAUTION Disconnect the power cord(s) before installing or removing the product in/from the server. Make sure to power off the server and disconnect the power cord(s) from a power outlet and DC cable from the product before installing/removing the product in/from the server, or connecting with the peripheral devices.
Do not use any unauthorized interface cable. Use only interface cables authorized by NEC and locate a proper device and connector before connecting a cable. Using an unauthorized cable or connecting a cable to an improper destination may cause a short circuit, resulting in a fire.
Cleaning and Working wit h the Product WARNING Do not disassemble, repair, or alter the server. Never attempt to disassemble, repair, or alter the product on any occasion. Failure to follow this instruction may cause an electric shock or fire as well as malfunctions of the product. Disconnect the power plug before accessing inside the server.
Note the following when you use the cage. If you ignore the notes, your assets (including important data and/or other devices) may be damaged. The 3.5 inch disk Cage N8154-25 is intended to be equipped with hard disk drives for NEC Express5800 series servers. Do not use the cage for any other purposes.
The device failure due to shock or thermal changes, as well as operator's misconduct, may cause loss of data. To avoid loss of data, NEC recommends that you should make a back-up copy of your valuable data on a regular basis.

Names and Functions of Sections 4 SAS/SATA connector (MINISAS_1) The SAS/SATA connector is used to connect the cage to the disk array controller. Use the MINI SAS cable (option). Power receptacles (2) The power receptacles are used to connect with the power cables of the server. Always connect both the receptacles with the power cables.

Step 2 Installing N8154-25 in Server Installation (First 3.5-inch disk Cage) Exit from all the application programs and shutdown the system. Turn off the power of the server and disconnect all the power cords from the receptacles. Release the lock of the front door by using the security key to open the front door. following the User’s Guide of the server.

Installation (Second 3.5-inch disk Cage) Exit from all the application programs and shutdown the system. Turn off the power of the server and disconnect all the power cords from the receptacles. Open the front door following the User’s Guide of the server. Remove the side cover from the server following the User’s Guide of the server.

Insert the 3.5-inch cage into the disk slot. Put attached SLOT LABEL on right side of cage. Putting position of SLOT LABEL CAUTION To install the disk cage, hold the front of the cage to insert into the server. To remove the disk cage, also hold the front of the cage to pull it out from the server.

Change the 2.5-inch disk cage to the 3.5-inch disk cage Exit from all the application programs and shutdown the system. Turn off the power of the server and disconnect all the power cords from the receptacles. Remove the side cover and open the front mask from the server following the User’s Guide of the server.

Remove the two screws, and then remove the thermal sensor board from the bracket. Remove the four fixing screws and blank covers of the 2.5-inch disk cage or the four fixing screws of the second 2.5-inch disk cage, and then remove the 2.5-inch disk cage and blank covers. Remove the two flat countersunk screws from front of the server chassis.

Slowly and carefully lay down the server so that its right side faces the floor. Remove the two hexagon set screws from bottom of the chassis. Remove the two screws from the side of disk cage frame.

Hold the L-shaped grooves of the disk cage frame, and move the frame down. Use the two screws removed in step 13 to fix the disk cage frame in place. Use the two screws removed in step 12 to fix the disk cage frame in place.

Slowly and carefully stand up the server, and then use the two flat head screws removed in step 10 to fix the front of the server chassis in place. Draw out the cable removed in step18, and then connect it to the thermal sensor board. Use the two screws removed in step 19 to fix thermal sensor board in place.

SGPIOA connector Used to connect with the first 3.5-inch disk cage. SGPIOB connector Used to connect with the second 3.5-inch disk cage. Mother board SGPIOB SGPIOA connector connector RAID controller is connected here. The port numbers of the server or the RAID controller are pre-assigned according to the physical location of disk in the cage.

<Connecting with the mother board> Prepare one K410-232(00) cable (option). ※In this case, only one disk cage be installed. Disk cage side Mother board side Make sure that the jumper settings are as shown below. Install the side cover having been removed on the server as it was.
Take care not to touch the left and right guide rails inside the cage. To replace the cage with new one, perform in "Step 2 Installing N8154-25 in Server", and install the removed hard disk drives into the original slots.
