Getting Connected
Step 1
Select one of t he f ollow ing t hree t ypes of common connect ions:
TV + Antenna or Cable w ithout a Cable Box

The f ollow ing are just a f ew exam ples
For f urt her explanat ions, see " Basic Hookups and Set t ings" in t he
Operat ing Inst ruct ions.
Connect the signal source to the recorder.
Use a coaxial cable (not supplied) t o connect t he signal source
VCR coming f rom your w all t o t he VHF/UHF IN jack on t he recorder.
LINE OUT
If you have a VCR
S VIDEO
R-AUDIO-L VIDEO
To playback video t apes, connect t he LINE OUT jacks on
your VCR t o t he LINE IN 3 jacks on t he recorder using an
audio/video cord (not supplied). If your VCR has an
S-video jack, you can use an S-video cord (not supplied)
inst ead of t he yellow video jack on t he audio/video cord.
Connect the recorder to your TV.
Use t he supplied ant enna cable t o connect t he VHF/UHF OUT
jack on t he recorder t o t he VHF/UHF IN jack on your TV.
Then use t he supplied audio/video cord t o connect t he LINE
OUT jacks on t he recorder t o t he LINE IN jacks on your TV. If

your TV has an S-video jack, you can use an S-video cord (not
supplied) inst ead of t he yellow video jack on t he audio/video
cord.

If you have an AV am plif ier (receiver)
Connect eit her an audio cord (not supplied) f rom t he
LINE OUT jacks on t he recorder t o t he LINE IN jacks on
your AV amplif ier (receiver), or a digit al cord (not
supplied) f rom t he DIGITAL OUT (COAXIAL or OPTICAL)
jack on t he recorder t o t he DIGITAL IN jack on your AV
Television amplif ier (receiver).
