  • Page 2 Setting up the Dial-up network for GPRS The settings may vary with the local service provider. This information has to be requested from the local provider. (The following sample screenshots illustrate the setup procedure.) Windows 2000 Select [Start] - [Settings] - [Network and Dial-up Connections] - [Make New Con- nection].
  • Page 3 Setting up the Dial-up network for GPRS Select the GSM/GPRS modem you are using, then select [Next]. Enter [*99***1#] at [Telephone number], then select [Next]. Note that the “1” shown here should be changed to the CID that you enter during the modem driver’s installa- tion procedure.

Remove the check mark for [To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box and then click Finish.], then select [Finish]. Select [Start] - [Settings] - [Network and Dial-up Connections] and right-click the connection you just created, then select [Properties].

  • Page 12 Using CheckNet RAS (Dial-up network) Control You can start up RAS (Dial-up network) from CheckNet by allocating a dial-up network for each button. Set up the Dial-up network Select [Options] - [RAS] and select dial- up network you prefer for [GPRS] or [GSM].
  • Page 13 Using CheckNet SMS / Phone Book SMS messages can be sent or read with the CheckNet. You can also register phone numbers to the phone book. Select [SMS] to display the [SMS View] screen. When you receive SMS The number of unread SMS will be indicated in [Mail] on the CheckNet window, and a received SMS will be listed in [SMS View] with an asterisk(*) in [New] column.

To enable PIN lock Select [PIN Lock] and enter the PIN code (4digits), then select [OK]. ([PIN Lock] will change to [PIN Unlock].) Next time when CheckNet is started up after turning off the GPRS modem, the PIN number will be re- quested.

  • Page 17 GPRS AT commands To transmit data via GPRS the application software uses a PPP stack. Windows uses it as a part of a modem driver. In Windows these drivers are part of the Dial-up network. However, application software which does not use the Dial-up network, can establish a PDP context by executing a series of AT commands.
  • Page 18 GPRS AT commands Select *99***<cid># as the phone number entry in the dial up network, in order to activate the PDP context with the predefined values. Otherwise, the computer will ignore the predefined values and activate the PDP context with the default values. NOTE AT&F and ATZ will be undefined for every context that is inactive or not offline.
  • Page 19 GPRS AT commands GPRS attach (AT+CGATT) In order to use the GPRS service the GSM/GPRS modem must be GPRS attached. From that moment on the PLMN knows that the GSM/GPRS modem is GPRS capable. This means the GSM/GPRS modem can initiate a GPRS data call and Mobility Management routines apply.
