The heat-sink-and-fan assembly and microprocessor might be hot. Before you open the computer cover,
turn off the computer and wait for several minutes until the computer is cool.
For access, remove the following parts in order:

Notes:
• Each computer has a unique Vital Product Data (VPD) code that is stored in the nonvolatile memory on the
system board. After you replace the system board, the VPD must be updated.
• Your microprocessor sockets and socket covers might look slightly different from the illustrations in this

• Do not touch the pins on the microprocessor socket or the gold contacts on the microprocessor.
