Filter Removal Procedure
1.
Turn OFF electrical power to the furnace.
2.
Remove fi lter cabinet door.
3.
Slide out fi lter.
4.
If the fi lter is damaged, replace it with a new one.
5.
For reusable fi lters, use cold tap water and mild liquid detergent (if needed)
to rinse the fi lter.
6.
Once dry, reinstall fi lter.
7.
Replace fi lter cabinet door.
8.
Turn ON electrical power to furnace.
Depending on the installation, diff ering fi lter arrangements can be applied. A
media air fi lter or electronic air cleaner can be used as an alternate fi lter. If a
fi lter replacement is necessary, follow the fi lter sizes given in the Recommended
Minimum Filter size (Table 1) to ensure proper unit performance. Also, be sure the
replacement fi lter is rated for high airfl ow. For further details, call your contractor
or distributor.
Upright Filter Removal
To remove fi lters from an external fi lter rack in an upright upfl ow installation, follow
the directions provided with the external fi lter rack kit. Clean, wash and dry a
permanent fi lter. When using a permanent fi lter, both sides should be sprayed with
a dust adhesive as recommended on the adhesive container. Spray adhesives for
use with permanent fi lters can be found at some hardware stores.
Be sure airflow direction arrow points towards the blower.
Inspect fi lter. If the dirty fi lter is the disposable type, replace dirty fi lter with the
same type and size fi lter. If the dirty fi lter is a permanent fi lter, clean as follows:
Clean, wash and dry a permanent filter. When using a permanent filter,
both sides should be sprayed with a dust adhesive as recommended on
the adhesive container.
If badly torn or uncleanable, these filters must be replaced by equal size
permanent, high velocity filters. Throwaway filters must not be used as
replacement for permanent filters.

5.3 Burners

Periodically during the heating season perform a visual check of the burner fl ames.
Turn the furnace on at the thermostat. Wait a few minutes since any dislodged dust
will alter the normal fl ame appearance. Flames should be stable quiet soft and blue
with slightly orange tips. They should not be yellow. They should extend directly
outward from the burner ports without curling downward, fl oating, or lifting off the
ports. Contact a qualifi ed service agent at once if an abnormal fl ame appearance
should develop.
WARNING:
 Only a qualified contractor, installer or service agency can
clean the burners if the burners get a heavy accumulation of
soot and carbon.

5.4 Replacement Parts

Replacement parts as well as information regarding parts are available through your
contractor or distributor. All service must be performed by a qualifi ed professional
installer. When ordering any of the listed functional parts, be sure to provide the
furnace model and serial numbers with the order, this information is available on
the warning label located on the blower access panel. Common spare parts are
