Replacing the air filter
(ODS-D280U/D380U)
If the air filter replacement alarm (3F-
511) occurs, replace the air filter
immediately.
Notes
• Continued use in this state may
cause read/write errors and may lead
to failure.
• The air filter replacement schedule
will vary with the usage environment.
• Before replacing the air filter, always
eject all cartridges from the unit and
power off the unit.
For details about the air filter replacement
procedure and actions after replacement, refer
to the Installation Manual supplied with the
replacement air filter.
For details about obtaining an air filter and air
filter replacement, consult your local Sony
service or sales representative.
Parts with limited service
life
The drive units contain parts with a
limited service life (optical block,
motor, etc.).
These parts may wear and deteriorate
due to prolonged use.
The service life of each part varies
depending on the environment (high
temperature) used and the usage
frequency.
If there is significant deterioration or
wear, functionality may be impaired
and replacement may be necessary to
maintain product performance.

Important Notes on Operation
Long-term loading of
cartridges
Eject the cartridges from the unit if the
unit will be connected to a computer for
lengthy intervals without reading or
writing data. The cartridges may be
accessed, depending on the software
installed on the computer, even if you
do not intentionally read or write. This
may lead to early replacement of the
optical head or may adversely affect
the media.
Attaching the USB cable
clamper (ODS-D380U)
Attach the USB cable clamper to
prevent disconnection of the USB
cable.
Note
The supplied USB cable clamper
supports the supplied USB cable only.
It may not attach to commercially
available USB cables.

Place the ODS-D380U upside
down.
USB connector (Type C)

Insert the supplied USB cable all
the way into the USB connector.
