Initial use

WARNING - RISK OF INJURY!
Always and only use freshly drawn mains water in the kettle! Do not con-
sume any water that is not certified as potable . If you do, you are taking a
risk with your health!
Before starting the appliance up, make certain that . . .
the appliance, plug and power cable are in a serviceable condition
and . . .
all packaging materials have been removed from the appliance .
1) Remove the lid 1 .
2) Fill the appliance with water up to the MAX mark and let it come to a full
boil once – as described in the next section .
3) After it has boiled, pour this water away .
4) Rinse the kettle out with clear water .
5) Refill the appliance with water up to the MAX mark, and then bring it to the
boil . When done, pour this water away also .
6) Rinse the kettle out with clear water .
The appliance is now ready for use .

RISK - ELECTRICAL SHOCK!
Never place the electrical base 4 close to water – this would be a
potentially fatal risk!
WARNING - RISK OF INJURY!
Always use freshly drawn water . Do not consume any water that has already
stood in the kettle for longer than one hour . Do not reboil water that has cooled
down . Always pour old water away . Microbes could have formed in it!
NOTE
Always ensure that the ON/OFF switch 3 is in the "0" position (off) when
the mains plug is unplugged and the appliance is standing on the base 4 .
If not, the device could heat up unintendedly as soon as the mains plug is
plugged in again .
