The lithium-ion battery can be charged at any time without
reducing its service life. Interrupting the charging process
does not damage the battery.
The lithium-ion battery is protected against deep discharge
by the "Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)". When the battery
is discharged, the power tool is switched off by means of a
protective circuit: The application tool no longer rotates.
Do not continue to press the On/Off switch after the
u
power tool has automatically switched off. The battery
can be damaged.
Follow the instructions on correct disposal.
Removing the Battery
To remove the battery (1), press the release button (2) and
pull the battery upwards and out of the power tool. Do not
use force to do this.

Changing the tool
Wearing protective gloves while fitting and changing
u
router bits is recommended.
Original router bits from the extensive range of Bosch ac-
cessories are available from your specialist dealer.
Changing the collet (see figures A–B)
Depending on the router bit used, you may have to change
the cap nut with the collet (9) before fitting the router bit.
If the right collet for your router bit is already fitted, please
follow the work steps in the following section.
The collet (15) must sit in the cap nut with a small amount of
play. The cap nut (9) must be easy to fit. If the cap nut or col-
let is damaged, replace it immediately.
Pull out the spindle locking lever (7) up to the marking ar-
row (6) on the housing. If necessary, turn the motor spindle
manually until it is locked in place. Six positions offset by 60°
are possible.
Unscrew the cap nut (9) anticlockwise using the open-ended
spanner (18).
If required, clean all the parts you want to fit with a soft
brush or by blowing them clean with compressed air before
assembling them.
Place the new cap nut on the tool holder (16).
Loosely tighten the cap nut.
Slide the spindle locking lever (7) back into the housing.
Do not, under any circumstances, tighten the collet
u
with the tightening nut until a router bit has been fit-
ted. The collet may otherwise become damaged.
Bosch Power Tools
Inserting the router bit (see figure C)
Wearing protective gloves while fitting and changing
u
router bits is recommended.
Router bits are available in a wide variety of designs and
qualities depending on the intended application.
Router bits made of high-performance high-speed steel
(HSS) are suited to machining soft materials such as soft-
wood and plastic.
Router bits with carbide tips are especially suitable for
hard and abrasive materials such as hardwood and alu-
minium.
Original router bits from the extensive range of Bosch ac-
cessories are available from your specialist dealer.
Only use undamaged and clean router bits.
Pull out the spindle locking lever (7) up to the marking ar-
row (6) on the housing. If necessary, turn the motor spindle
manually until it is locked in place. Six positions offset by 60°
are possible.
Capacity
Unscrew the cap nut (9) anticlockwise using the open-ended
spanner (18).
≥2/3
Slide the router bit into the collet. The shank of the router bit
≥1/3
must be immersed at least 20 mm into the collet.
<1/3
Retighten the cap nut by turning in clockwise direction.
Reserve
Slide the spindle locking lever (7) back into the housing.
Do not, under any circumstances, tighten the collet
u
with the tightening nut until a router bit has been fit-
ted. The collet may otherwise become damaged.
Dust/Chip Extraction
Dust from materials such as lead-containing coatings, some
wood types, minerals and metal can be harmful to one's
health. Touching or breathing-in the dust can cause allergic
reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of the user or
bystanders.
Certain dust, such as oak or beech dust, is considered carci-
nogenic, especially in connection with wood-treatment ad-
ditives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials containing
asbestos may only be worked by specialists.
– Provide for good ventilation of the working place.
– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the ma-
terials to be worked.
Avoid dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can
u
easily ignite.
Operation
Adjusting the routing depth (see figures D–E)
The routing depth must only be set while the power
u
tool is switched off.
Place the power tool with a fitted router bit onto the work-
piece you want to machine.
Turn the locking wheel (14) anticlockwise approximately
half a revolution to unlock the depth-of-cut adjuster.
