The laser beam
on this model is concentrated so
as to be focused on the disc reflective surface by the
objective
lens in the optical pick-up block.
There-
fore, when checking the laser diode emission, observe
more than 25 cm away from the objective lens.

1. Make POWER
switch on with no disc inserted and
disc table closed.
2. Confirm
that the following operation at right is
performed while observing the objective lens.
@ Hold down optical pick-up block and
chucking arm by a finger.

Before starting
repairing, make following procedures.

Loosen the screw (red) with the screwdriver.

__=Insert the screwdriver into the slot in the lever and
move it in the direction of the arrow until it stops.

Tighten the screw.

IC REPLACEMENT

When replacing IC401, 501, first clean the IC head
and the inside of the heat sink with alcohol, then
mount the heat sink and fill the heat sink indented
portion
with an epoxy
type adhesive*,
as shown
in the illustration below.
*
Epoxy type adhesive: Sony bond SC1000 or other
quick drying 2 liquid compound.
