Troubleshooting Guide
The following checks will assist in the correction of most problems which you may encounter with your system. Before going through the
check list below, first check the following points.
e@ The power cord must be connected firmly.
e@ The speaker connection must also be firm.
Should any problem persist after you have made these checks, consult your nearest Sony dealer.
Radio Reception

The TUNED indicator flashes.
e Adjust the antenna.
The STEREO indicator flashes.
Severe hum or noise.
e Adjust the antenna.
@ Adjust the antenna.
@ The signa! strength is too weak. Connect the external antenna.

@ Connect the ground wire.
Cassette Deck Operation
Insufficient erasure.
@ No cassette in the cassette holder.
@ The tab is removed from the cassette. (See page 29.)
@ The tape is wound completely.
@ The cassette deck is in the pause mode.
@ The desired deck is not selected. Select it with the DECK A/B
selection button. (See page 27.)
@ Deck B is not selected. Select deck B with DECK A/B selection
button. (See page 27.)
® Dirty head. (See page 59.)
@ Magnetic build-up on the record/playback head. (See page 59.)
@ Contamination of the capstans of pinch rollers. (See page 59.)
@ Magnetic build-up on the erase head. (See page 59.)
Increase of noise or erase of high frequencies.
