    DSL-500G ADSL Ethernet Router User’s Guide About This User’s Guide This user’s guide provides instructions on how to install the DSL-500G ADSL Router and use it to connect a computer or Ethernet LAN to the Internet. If you are using a computer with a functioning Ethernet port, you can use the Quick Installation Guide to quickly establish your ADSL connection and access the Internet.

    Router vs. Bridge Mode The DSL-500G can be used in two different mode or roles, a router mode or bridge mode. In bridge mode the device is intended to connect a single computer to the Internet or WAN (Wide Area Network) interface. In bridge mode the device is said to be invisible since it does not have an IP address.

    The Router is easy to install and use. The DSL-500G connects to an Ethernet LAN or single computer via a standard Ethernet interface. The ADSL connection is made using ordinary twisted-pair telephone line with standard RJ-11 connectors.

    DSL-500G ADSL Router User’s Guide Hardware Installation In this chapter you will learn about the various connections you will need to make in order to use the Router. When selecting the location for the Router, allow ample room to access the connections on the rear panel. For convenience, try to place the Router near your computer so you can monitor the LED indicators.
