Obtaining the Image Files
You can obtain the wireless device image file from the Cisco.com software center by following these
steps:
Use your Internet browser to access the Cisco Software Center at the following URL:

http://www.cisco.com/public/sw-center/sw-wireless.shtml
Find the wireless device firmware and utilities section and click on the link for the wireless device.
Step 2
Double-click the latest firmware image file for wireless devices.
Step 3
Download the image file to a directory on your PC hard drive.

Obtaining TFTP Server Software
You can download TFTP server software from several websites. Cisco recommends the shareware TFTP
utility available at this URL:
http://tftpd32.jounin.net
Follow the instructions on the website for installing and using the utility.
Reloading the Bootloader Image
Follow this procedure to download the boot loader image to the device:
Place the bootloader image in the proper directory on a TFTP server.
Step 1
Connect to the console.
Step 2
Enter the enable command to enter privileged mode.
Step 3
Download the new boot loader image from the TFTP server to the boot sector by using the copy tftp://ip
Step 4
address/path/imagename bs: command, where ip address is the address of the TFTP server and path is
the path to the directory where the boot loader image is located.

When the boot loader download is complete, enter the reset command at the console prompt to reset the

device.
The boot sector flash file system is addressed as bs:. The WMIC will not boot up and will not
recover if a non-bootloader image is downloaded to the boot sector of the flash file system.
