Your purchase of PIONEER equipment is only the beginning of your musical enjoyment. PIONEER and the Consumer Electronics Association
want you to get the most out of your equipment by using it at a safe sound level; a level that lets the sound come through clearly without annoying
blaring or distortion _ and, most importantly, without affecting your sensitive hearing.
Sound can be deceiving. Over time your hearing "comfort level" adapts to higher volumes of sound. So what sounds "normal" can actually be
loud and hannful to your hearing. Set your equipment at a safe level BEFORE your hearing adapts.
To establisb a safe level:
• Start your volume control at a low setting.
• Slowly increase the sound until you can hear it comfortably and clearly, without distortion.
Once you bave established a comfortable sound level:
• Set the dial and leave it there.
• Taking a minute to do this now will help to preserve hearing.
Used wisely, your new sound equipment can provide fun and enjoyment. Since hearing damage from loud noise is often undetectable until it is too late,
PIONEER and the Consumer Electronics Association recommend you avoid prolonged exposure to excessive noise. Under constant exposure such as
sustained listening, sound levels above 85 decibels can be dangerous without hearing protection. (For reference, a garbage disposal or loud shouting at 3
feet away are around 80 decibels; a food blender or gas lawn mower at 3 feet away are around 90 decibels.> The longer your exposure andlor higher the
sound level, the greater the danger of permanent hearing damage. Also, playing loud music or other sounds in a vehicle can hinder your ability to hear
traffic or emergency vehicles. We recommend using low volume levels when driving so you can still hear sounds outside your vehicle. PIONEER disclaims
all liability for hearing loss, bodily injury or property damage as a result of use or misuse of this product.
'&'CAUTION
To prevent damage to your speakers please observe the following caution. At high volume
levels if the music sounds distorted or additional sounds are perceived lower the volume.
This may be caused by excessive input to the speakers. The sound you are hearing could
be the speaker cone becoming out of control or it may be the voice coil actually coming into
contact with the magnetic assembly. Under these circumstances, it is prudent to lower the
volume to just below the point where these phenomena occur. If your amplifier has a gain
control it would be advisable to lower this control slightly to prevent this from reoccurring. In
some cases, if there is an equalizer in the system, the bass control on this unit could also
be readjusted to prevent this from happening. If higher volume or sound pressure levels (spl)
than those which the speaker can reproduce are desired. it is recommended that additional
speakers be added to the system. By doing so it is possible to gain significant increases in
sound pressure levels. In some cases. you may double the perceived system output without
any deterioration in sound quality. When installing the speakers. or after installation make
sure not to subject the diaphragms to 'direct shock (for example. dropping sharp-edged
objects onto them) as the speakers may be damaged. Since this speaker is continuously
used being tumed on full blast, temperature 01 the magnetic circuit rises, avoid touching it
directly by hand and placing something near it If it is heated, it may cause a bum.

cabinet whose volume is larger than the recommended size or used alone in a free air. it will

PIONEER recommends that this speaker be used in conjunction with amplifiers
whose continuous (RMS) output Is lower than the nominal input power of this
speaker.

Alin d'hiter d'endommager les haut-parleurs, observer les precautions suivantes. 8i la

contact avec I'ensemble magnetique. Dans ces circonstances, il est prudent de baisaer Ie
volume a un niveau juste au-dessous du point ou ces phenomenes se produisent. 8i
I'amplificateur est muni d'une commande de gain, il est reeommande de baisser cetu
commande legllrement afin d'empecher les phenomenes de se reproduire. Dans certaina cas,
s'i1 y a un egaliseuT dans Ie systeme, on peut aussi ajuster la commande des gravel pour
empecher les phenomenes de se produire. 8i Ie volume ou Ie niveaux de preaaion acoustique
(spi) superieuTS a cew: que Ie haut-parleur peut reproduire sont desires, il est recommande
d'ajouter des haut-parleurs supplementaires au systeme. On peut ainsi obtenir des
augmentations considerables de niveaux de pression acoustique, Dans certains cas, on peut
arriver a doubler la puilsance perfue du systeme sans deWrioration de 1a qualite sonore.
Installant les haut-parleura ou apres les avoir installes, veiller l ne pas endommager leurs
diaphragmes (en lailsant tomber dessus del objets coupants, par exemple) car ils
pourraient etre endommages. Quand ce haut.parleur est utilise de fafon continue a plein
volume, la temperature de ses circuits magnetiques lI'eleve, evitez donc de Ie toucher
directement de la main ou de placer des objets A pronmite. 8'il eat chaud, il pourrait
occasionner des brtllures, une deformation ou des degllta sur des objets voisins. 8i Ie
haut-parleur est utilise tel quel, monte sur un coffrer dont Ie volume est plus grand que la
taille recommsndee ou s'il est utilise l I'air libre, sa durabilite sera amoindrie et il risque
aussi de tomber en panne.

PRECAUCION
Para evitar averla de sus altavoces, slrvase observar las siguientes precauciones. Si la musica
se reproduce anormalmente 0 cuando se reciben sonidos adicionales, baje el volumen. Esto
puede presenlarse debido a la excesiva carga sobra los altavoces. EI sonido puede oirse
anomalmente si se descontrola al cono del altavoz 0 cuando la boblna m6vil se pone en
contacto con el conjunto magnetico. En estas clrcunstancias, as necesario baJar at voluman
hasta el punto donde desaparazcan estos 'en6menos. Si su amplilicador cuenta con un control
de ganancia, seria mejor bajar ligaramente aste control para evitar que ocurran los len6menos
mencionados. En algunos casos, si el sistema eslA provisto da un ecualizador, el control de
graves de esta unidad puede reajustarse tambi6n para evitar que ocurra dlcho problema. Si
desea lograr un volumen mas alto que al obtenido con el altavoz provisto, sa recomlenda atladir
altavoces adicionales al sistema. Con esta adici6n, es posible aumentar considerablemante el
nivel sonoro del sistema. En ciertos C8SOS, usted pocIra duplicar la salida del sistema sin ningun
deterioro an la calidad sonora. Cuando Instale los altavoces, 0 despu6s de haberlos instalado,
cerci6rese de que sus diafragmaa no reciban golpes (por ejemplo, al dejar caer objetos
punliagudos sobre ellos) ya que pocIrian danarse. Ya que este altavoz eslA siendo usado
