Turning the Power On / Making Initial Settings ■ Heart Rate Starting Up This lets you register your resting heart rate and maximum heart rate. The resting heart rate can be simply measured by placing your fingers on your wrist and counting the pulse during one minute, or by counting the pulse Exercising over 15 seconds and multiplying by four.
Control Hold Control Hold Starting Up This feature lets you “freeze” the panel controls of the BF-1 so that you don’t Exercising inadvertently change any settings while you’re exercising. Basic Operations Basic Operations Starting Up In this section, you’ll learn how to use the controls of the BF-1 for the basic Exercising operations of the device. These include moving the cursor highlight, selecting menu items, and changing settings and parameter values. You should thoroughly read and understand this section, since the other Computer instructions in the manual assume you are familiar with the basic operations.

Walking/Jogging at Your Own Pace—Free Workout Mode Walking/Jogging at Your Own Pace—Free Workout Starting Up Mode Exercising In the Free Workout mode, the BF-1 automatically matches the music to your exercise pace, selecting songs that have almost the same tempo as your jogging or walking speed.
For playback of certain songs (and depending, of course, on the characteristics of those songs), you may find that the song tempo does not match your pace. If this is the case, you can manually correct the tempo information with the BODiBEAT Station software. For details, refer to the BODiBEAT Station Owner’s Manual.
Walking/Jogging at Your Own Pace—Free Workout Mode Goal Setting and Music Selection Starting Up The Goal Setting parameters let you set a certain time period for your session, the distance to be covered, or the number of calories to be expended. The BF- 1 then automatically stops playback once the desired target has been reached.

• Birthday, Sex • Height, Weight • Stride, Heart Rate For instructions on how to use the software, refer to the BODiBEAT Station Owner’s Manual installed together with the program. IMPORTANT Before installing the software, please read carefully the End User License Agreement included in the CD-ROM.
Execute the installation by following the onscreen instructions. CAUTION When you first connect the BF-1 to the computer in which the BODiBEAT Station is installed, the preset Training programs on the BF-1 will be overwritten by the programs on the BODiBEAT Station.
• Never disconnect the USB cable while data is being transferred. Doing so may cause loss of data or damage to the device. • When connecting with a computer to which BODiBEAT Station is installed, a message “Do you want to associate with this computer?” may appear. If you select “Yes” here, data on the BF-1 (logs, training programs and songs) will be cleared.
For details about the procedure, refer to the owner’s manual of the software. The BODiBEAT Station cannot directly import the song data from a music CD. You will need to import songs from the CD to your computer in advance, using a CD ripping software, such as Windows Media Player.
Starting Up Exercising Using the BF-1 as a Music Player Computer —Music Playback Mode Music Player Settings In this mode, the BF-1 performs as a simple music player. You can select one of the songs you’ve loaded from computer and play it back.

This lets you set how the BF-1 selects between normal audio songs and the special “BODiBEAT” songs, which have been pre-loaded to the device. These BODiBEAT songs have been built into the BF-1 to make sure that songs of all tempos between 50 – 250 bpm are properly included, even if you haven’t loaded audio songs of all tempos to the...
