For UnixWare 2.1.x, the SCSI controller drivers are built into the SCO product. HP
recommends that you use the latest adsl driver that SCO ships. This driver is available
from SCO on their SLS "PTF3124C". The PTF3124C version of the adsl driver was
released after the UnixWare 2.1.x update release. HP ships the SCO PTF3124C version
of the adsl driver on the driver diskette that is created by the HP NetServer Navigator
CD.
1. Use the HP Navigator CD-ROM installation utility to configure your system
hardware. This utility creates the HP NetServer UnixWare 2.1.x Drivers diskette (the
"Drivers Diskette").
2. UnixWare 2.1.0 and 2.1.1 have problems with system memory sizes greater than 1
GB. You may experience problem loading HBA drivers during the installation
process. You may also have problems reading and writing floppy diskettes. These
problems have been resolved in UnixWare 2.1.2. HP recommends that you only use
UnixWare 2.1.2 for systems with greater than 1 GB of system memory.
3. Insert the SCO UnixWare Installation diskette and turn on your NetServer.
4. When you are asked to insert HBA driver diskettes you should first use the HP
NetServer UnixWare 2.1.x Drivers diskette and then use the SCO UnixWare Host
Bus Adapter Drivers diskette. Later during the installation you will need to reinsert
the HBA driver diskettes. The HP UnixWare 2.1.x Drivers diskette will be asked for
as the "HP NetServer UnixWare 2.1.x Drivers" diskette.
For LCII, use the latest SLS "PTF3254s" when you install the osmp package:
· Do not select the osmp package when installing UnixWare 2.1.x.
· When you finish installing UnixWare 2.1.x, then install osmp (choose Intel for
plattform). Do not reboot the machine.
· Install PTF3254s, and manually relink the kernel: # /etc/conf/bin/idbuild -B
· Reboot the machine.
5. Follow the instructions in the SCO UnixWare Installation Handbook to complete
your system installation.
6. After the installation, update your system to UnixWare 2.1.2 (or later).
For more reliable network operation, HP recommends that you install PTF3280. For
more detail on how to install PTF3280, please refer to SCO documentation. To
improve the performance of the network, you need to modify the kernel parameters:
Go into System_Tuner (in Admin_Tools folder) and modify these parameters:
