Installing the USB-MIDI Driver on a Windows Vista Com-
puter
Do not connect the UX16 to your computer until you are instructed to do so in the

following instructions.
You must log into Windows as the Administrator (using the computer's administrator

account) to install the USB-MIDI driver.
1. Insert the CD-ROM included in the package into the CD-ROM drive on your
computer.
2. The system displays the UX16 Driver Installation Utility panel.
Click [Install].
If the system does not display the UX16 Driver Installation Utility panel, select "Start"

→ "Computer," then right-click the CD-ROM drive icon. Following this, a pop-up menu
appears. Select [Open] from the pop-up menu, then double-click the "Start_E.exe" file.
3. Connect the UX16 to the computer.
The system automatically launches the Found New Hardware Wizard.
Some computers may take a while to display the Wizard window.

4. Click "Locate and install driver software (recommended)."
If the "User Account Control" window appears after clicking "Locate and install driver

software (recommended)," click [Continue].
5. Click "Don't search online."
Depending on your computer OS setting, this message may not appear.

6. Click "Browse my computer for driver software (advanced)."
7. Click [Browse] to specify the search location.
8. Select the CD-ROM drive that contains the CD-ROM included with the pack-
age, and the installation starts.
Select the drive, then click "OK." When the previous window appears again,
check "Include subfolders," then click "Next" to start installation.
Depending on the setting of your computer, the alert message below may appear

during the installation process for security purposes. Confirm this software is authored
by Yamaha Corporation then click [Install].
9. When a message appears indicating that the driver has been successfully
installed, click [Finish].
On some computers, it may take a few minutes before this screen appears.
