Password Problems

If you have any trouble using your password, try the following:
1. If you think you know the correct password, reset the
computer and try again. See Chapter 3 for instructions.
Note
If you enabled network server mode when you set a
password, you do not see the key prompt. For more
information, see "Using Your Computer as a Network
Server" in Chapter 4.
2. If you know the current power-on password but you want
to change or delete it, see Chapter 3 for instructions. (You
cannot change or delete a power-on password and remain
in network server mode.)
3. If you do not know the current power-on password and
you do not want to set a new one, see "Removing a
Password," below.
4. If you do not know the current power-on password and
you want to set a new one, see "Setting a New Password,"
below.
5. If you are setting a password and you see the following
message, you need to change a jumper setting inside the
computer:
TURN OFF POWER AND CORRECT JUMPER
SETTING TO ENABLE PASSWORD CHECKING
Remove any diskettes, turn off the computer, and follow
the instructions under "Changing the Jumper Settings" in
Chapter 6 to enable the password function.
