thefollowing steps:
1. Turn offthegasto thewaterheater a tthe manual gas
shut-off valve.
2. Open anearby h otwater faucet until t he water i snolonger
hot.
3. Close t hecold water i nlet v alve.
4. Connect a hose tothedrain valve andterminate it toan
adequate drain orexternal tothebuilding.
5. Open thewater heater drain valve andallow allofthe water
todrain from thetank.Flush thetank with water a sneeded
toremove sediment.
6. Close thedrain valve, r efill t hetank, a nd restart theheater
asdirected i nthismanual.
If thewaterheater i s going tobeshutdown foranextended
period, thedrain valve should b eleftopen.
IMPORTANT: Condensation may occur w hen refilling t hetank
andshould n otbeconfused witha tank leak.
