    NOTE: connector is configured and connected between Macintosh video out and the Rear Projection Television video in, the Macintosh is “forced” to boot in 640 x 480/60 Hz or 800 x 600/60 Hz mode (set mode) because the operational adapter correctly manipulates the Macintosh sense pins.

    WOOFER AUDIO TO HI-FI REAR SPEAKER 8Ω ONLY SUB WOOFER Output This jack provides variable audio output to a sub-woofer accessory. With this connection, the audio can be controlled by the television’s main volume. This feature can be turned on and off in the THEATER-SPEAKER SETUP menu. AUDIO TO Hi-Fi These jacks provide variable audio output to a seperate stereo amplifier.

    REAR PANEL JACKS AUDIO/VIDEO INPUTS 1, 2 The INPUT button on the front panel will step through each signal source input each time it is pressed. The Vid1~VId3 buttons on the remote control will select each video source each time they are pressed. Use the audio and video inputs to connect external devices, such as VCRs, camcorders, laserdisc players, DVD players etc.

    TIPS ON REAR PANEL CONNECTIONS NOTE: Turn off the Rear Projection Television and the PC before connecting or disconnecting any cables. TIPS ON REAR PANEL CONNECTIONS S-VIDEO connections are provided for high performance laserdisc players, VCRs etc. that have this feature. Use these connections in place of the standard video connection if your device has this feature.

    CONNECT AFTER TURNING THE POWER OF THE TV OFF. Push in the Right Speaker button and insert the positive (+) lead wire into the hole next to the button. Once the wire is in place, pull the red button back to original position and the wire is locked into place. In the same manner, push in the Right Speaker black button and insert the negative (-) lead wire.

    In addition to controlling all the functions on your HITACHI Projection TV, the new remote control is designed to operate different types of VCRs, CATV (Cable TV) converters, satellite receivers, DVD players, and other audio/video equipment with one touch.     Your HITACHI Projection TV incorporates Dual Tuner technology designed for improved viewing enjoyment. This Dual Tuner feature allows you to view antenna inputs on both the main picture and sub-picture simultaneously, with separate tuning control for each. The Dual Tuner can operate with only one input (ANT A only) or two inputs (ANT A and ANT B).

SURF MODE PIP This feature will automatically scan all active channel numbers (those set in memory) and display them as PIP sub-pictures, along the right edge of the screen.   • Page 30 FREEZE button (With PIP ON) If you wish to freeze the sub-picture, press the FREEZE button. This is convenient when trying to write down the address for a mail order company, recording statistics for a sporting event, etc. To return the picture to motion, press the FREEZE button again.

    3:2 pulldown. When MOVIE MODE is selected from the THEATER menu, your Hitachi Projection Television will activate the circuitry for this special feature to improve video performance when watching film based sources. This 3:2 pulldown detection will only work in MOVIE MODE.
  • Page 62 THEATER The following surround settings will reproduce the “live” sound you would hear in concert halls, SURROUND sports stadiums, movie theaters, etc. when you set up your speaker system as shown in the section on audio system setup on pages 22-23. The surround system is most effective with movie and other stereo material that is Dolby Surround encoded.

    THEATER DOLBY PRO LOGIC Dolby Pro Logic provides four separate sound channels: front left, center, front right, and surround. For properly encoded programs marked the center sound channel contains the dialogue for the program viewed. The left and right channels produce sound effects that will match the action on the TV screen.

    THEATER DOLBY DIGITAL Dolby Digital provides six independent sound channels: front left, center, front right, surround left, surround right, and sub woofer.
