(10) Turn the scanner cover stopper upright and remove it from the upper cover by pressing the
front and rear locks.
Reassembling Notes
• When replacing the scanner cover:
Please refer to the Rating Label on the right.
If the model can be determined by the character "Z" written
on the Rating Label affixed to the back of the product.
Please follow the operations below.
1) Remove the ferrite core from the CIS motor harness of the old scanner unit and set it to that
of the new scanner cover. Wind the CIS motor harness round the ferrite core by one turn.
2) In the case of MFC210C U.S.A./Canadian, MFC425CN/215C,DCP315CN/120C/117C/115C
models, check the CIS type (see below) used in the old scanner cover and write the firmware
suited for that CIS type onto the flash ROM. (Refer to
travel the CIS unit to the scanning end position (with Function code 59) by pressing the 5, 9,
and 3 keys and see whether the CIS unit is CCI or ROHM type. (For details about Function
code 59, refer to
Installing unsuited firmware causes error A7.
• Before connecting the panel-main harness to the main PCB, press section "X" on the left edge of
the scanner cover outwards to provide enough gap and route the panel-main harness through the
cable guide on the underside of the scanner cover as shown on
