    Dragging Press your finger on an item on the screen, and then move your finger to drag the item to a new location. You can also use this motion to slowly scroll through documents. Scrolling Scrolling is useful for moving up and down or left and right on a page or image. To scroll, place two fingers slightly apart on the screen, and then drag them across the screen in an up, down, left, or right motion.

    Tap Hardware and Sound, tap N-trig DuoSense Digitizer Settings, tap Digitizer options tab, and then follow the on-screen instructions. These preferences are specific to the touch screen and the Slate. To change or create flick assignments: Tap Start, and then tap Control Panel.

    Using the on-screen keyboard Your Slate has an on-screen keyboard that is displayed when you need to enter information into a document or data field. To display the keyboard, tap in the first data field. Tap the small keyboard icon that is displayed.

    Using the Swype keyboard After the Slate is set up, a welcome screen is displayed that allows you to select the Swype keyboard as your default on-screen keyboard. Once you have selected it as the default, the Swype keyboard is displayed when you tap in a text field.

    Turn the cap in a clockwise direction (3) to tighten it. The digital pen is now ready to use with your HP Slate. Simply touch the tip of the pen lightly on the screen to write text or items on the screen.     WLANs in public areas (hotspots) like coffee shops and airports may not provide any security. If you are concerned about the security of your Slate in a hotspot, limit your network activities to email that is not confidential and basic Internet surfing.

    Your Windows files must be backed up on a regular basis, and you must guard against viruses and privacy violations. The following sections address the importance of protecting your Slate as you use your Slate and the Windows operating system.

    Recovering information using recovery tools NOTE: For detailed instructions, perform a search for these topics in Help and Support. In case of system instability, HP recommends that you print the recovery procedures and save them for later use. NOTE: Windows includes the User Account Control feature to improve the security of your Slate.

    The system repair discs (select models only) are used to start up (boot) the Slate and repair the operating system in case of system instability or failure. Your initial and subsequent backups allow you to restore your data and settings if a failure occurs.

    Using a Windows 7 operating system DVD completely erases drive contents and reformats the drive. All files you have created and any software installed on the Slate are permanently removed. The AC power source must be rated at 100–240 V, 50–60 Hz.
