1 Safety Precautions 1.1. General Guidelines 1.3. Leakage Current Hot Check (See Figure 1.) 1. IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE There are special components used in this equipment 1. Plug the AC cord directly into the AC outlet. Do not use which are important for safety. These parts are marked by an isolation transformer for this check.
1.4. How to Discharge the Capacitor on Main P.C.B. CAUTION: 1. Be sure to discharge the capacitor on MAIN P.C.B.. 2. Be careful of the high voltage circuit on MAIN P.C.B. when servicing. [Discharging Procedure] 1. Refer to the disassemble procedure and Remove the necessary parts/unit. 2.
2 Warning 2.1. Prevention of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) to Electrostatically Sensitive (ES) Devices Some semiconductor (solid state) devices can be damaged easily by static electricity. Such components commonly are called Elec- trostatically Sensitive (ES) Devices. Examples of typical ES devices are integrated circuits and some field-effect transistors and semiconductor "chip"...
2.3. How to Replace the Lithium Battery 2.3.1. Replacement Procedure 1. Remove the MONITOR P.C.B.. (Refer to Disassembly Procedures.) 2. Unsolder the each soldering point of electric lead terminal for Lithium battery (Ref. No. “Z6301” at component side of MONI- TOR P.C.B.) and remove the Lithium battery together with electric lead terminal.
3 Service Navigation 3.1. Introduction This service manual contains technical information, which allow service personnel’s to understand and service this model. Please place orders using the parts list and not the drawing reference numbers. If the circuit is changed or modified, the information will be followed by service manual to be controlled with original service manual. 3.2.
3.4. How to Define the Model Suffix (NTSC or PAL model) There are five kinds of HX-WA20. • a) HX-WA20 (Japan domestic model) • b) HX-WA20PP • c) HX-WA20EB/EC/EF/EG/GN • d) HX-WA20GT • e) HX-WA20PU/GA/GC What is the difference is that the “INITIAL SETTING” data which is stored in Flash ROM mounted on Main P.C.B..
3.5. Formatting 3.6. Baking of IC and P.C.B. The baking mentioned here is the way of dehumidification of IC and P.C.B.. It's possible to improve the success rate of IC replacement for repair by baking of IC and P.C.B.. When replacing the hygroscopic IC and P.C.B., the problem of IC crack or foil pattern breaking in the P.C.B. might sometimes occur by rapid heating.
5 Location of Controls and Components LCD monitor It can open up to 90 , rotate up to 180 towards the lens or 105 towards the opposite direction. Due to limitations in LCD production technology, there may be some tiny bright or dark spots on the LCD monitor screen. However, this is not a malfunction and does not affect the recorded picture.

19 Lens 20 Built-in flash The flash reaches high temperatures and may cause burns if touched. Please do not touch the flash. 21 Hand strap fixture Adjust the length after passing your arm through the hand strap. 22 Speaker 23 Internal stereo microphones 24 Tripod receptacle If you attach a tripod which has a 5.5 mm (0.22 ) screw or larger, it may damage this unit.
7 Service Fixture & Tools 7.1. When Replacing the Main P.C.B. After replacing the MAIN P.C.B. or IC121, be sure to achieve update the Firmware and adjustment. 1. The firmware together with version up procedure are available at "software download" on the "Support Information from NWBG/VDBG-AVC"...
9 Measurements and Adjustments 9.1. Electric Adjustment • Adjustment method is different from a conventional High definition video camera. • An exclusive jig and PC (including software for adjustment “DSCcal”) are necessary for electric adjustment. • A USB driver for service is necessary to communication with PC. •...
