    The options can potentially overwrite files installed by Dell and possibly affect programs installed on your hard drive. Therefore, Dell does not recommend that you reinstall your operating system unless instructed to do so by a Dell technical support representative.

    Reinstalling Microsoft® Windows® Operating Systems: Dell Inspiron 2600 and 2650 then press on the next screen to select the highlighted partition (recommended). Then follow the instructions on the screen. The Windows XP Setup screen appears and Windows XP begins to copy files and install the device drivers.

    HINT: Dell recommends that you print these procedures before you begin. Before you can start the Dell Diagnostics you need to reset your boot sequence and boot from the Drivers and Utilities CD for your computer. HINT: In the system setup program, a device preceded by an exclamation point (!) indicates that the device is disabled.
