The preferred standard-definition video connection is S-Video.

The yellow composite video connector is the next preferred connection.

Neither of these video connections supports high-definition TV.

Stereo L/R (red and white) connectors are the third choice, but will only
provide two-channel stereo audio even when tuned to a Dolby Digital 5.1
surround sound program.

*When connecting the video path, never connect the yellow composite video connector
and S-Video at the same time.

HDTV and Dolby Digital surround sound are not supported in this configuration.
Two-channel stereo audio will be provided even when tuned to a Dolby
Digital 5.1 surround sound program.
** To play Dolby Digital 5.1 sound through the receiver, connect the DCH6416 or DCH6200 to the receiver using the DIGITAL AUDIO COAX or DIGITAL AUDIO OPTICAL c onnections.
Audio R and L connectors do not carry Dolby Digital 5.1. sound. Dolby Digital 5.1 is also available directly through the HDMI connection, if your A/V receiver and HDTV support HDMI.
