Executing a ZeroTurn
Whenexecutinga zeroturn, the ridingmower MUST BESTOPPED.
Executing a zeroturn while the ridingmower ismovingcan significantly
reduce yourcontrol of the ridingmower andwill causesevereturf
defacementto occur.
Stopthe forwardor reverse motionofthe riding mowerbymovingthe two
drivecontrollevers to neutral.
Toturn clockwise, m ovethe left controlleverforwardwhilesimultaneously
movingthe rightcontrolleverrearward. S eeFigure 19.

Stopping the Riding mower
1.
Movebothdrivecontrollevers to the neutralposition(parkingbrakeon)to
stopthe motionof the ridingmower.
2.
Push the PTO switchdownwardto the DISENGAGED
position.
3.
Use the decklift handle to raise the deckto its highestposition.
4.
Ifdismounting the tractor,movethe drivecontrolhandles fully outward
inthe neutralpositionwhichalsoengages t he parkingbrake,movethe
throttle/chokecontrol l everto the FAST _
position, t urn the ignition
switchto STOP 6 andremove the keyfrom the switch.
Donot leavethe seat of the riding mowerwithout disengagingthe PTO,
moving drivecontrol leversfully outward in the neutral position (parking
brakeon). If leavingthe ridingmower unattended,turnthe ignitionkey
off andremovekey.
DrivingOn Slopes
Refer t o the slopegaugeinthe SafeOperation Section to helpdetermineslopes
whereyoumaynot operatesafely.
Donot operate on inclineswith a slopein excess of 15degrees(a riseof

approximately2J/2 feet every10feet). Theridingmower could overturn
andcauseseriousinjury.
1.
Alwaysdriveacross s lopes,never u p anddown.Control t he speed and
directionofthe ridingmowerusingprimarilythe control l everonthe
downhillsideof the ridingmower,with the uphillcontrolleverremaining
essentially inafixed position.
2.
Avoidturningdownhillif possible. S tartat the bottomofaslopeandwork
upward. A lways slowdownbeforeturning.
3.
Use extracareandgoslowlywhen turningdownhill.
Operating The PTO
Operate the PTO clutchasfollows:
1.
Movethe throttle/choke controlleverto approximately the midthrottle
position.
2.
Pullthe PTO switchupwardto the ENGAGED
position.
3.
Advance the throttle/choke leverto the FAST _
position(full throttle).
4.
Theoperatormustremaininthe ridingmowerseatat all times.Ifthe
operatorshouldleavetheseatwithoutturningoff the power take-off
switch,the ridingmower'senginewill shutoff.
5.
ThePTO clutchcannotbeoperatedwhenthe ridingmowerisdrivinginthe
reverse d irection.ThePTO will disengage w hen bothdrivecontrollevers
aremoved to the reverse position, a ndwill re-engage whenone(or both)
controllever(s) i s moved to the neutralor forwardposition.
