If you leave the key in the ignition switch, someone could accidently start the engine and seriously
injure you or other bystanders.
Remove the key from the ignition and disconnect the wire from the spark plug before you do any
maintenance. Set the wire aside so that it does not accidentally contact the spark plug.

Procedures
Before opening any of the covers, stop the engine and
remove the key. Allow the engine to cool before opening
any covers

Opening the Hood

1. Release the hood latch as follows:
• If your traction unit has a lever style hood latch,
turn the hood latch clockwise (Figure 21).

• If your traction unit has a slotted hood latch,
push down on the hood while using the provided
hood key, a coin, or screwdriver to turn the hood
latch clockwise (Figure 22).

2. Swing the hood up.
3. Swing the prop rod up and secure it in the bracket
on the hood (Figure 23).

Closing the Hood

1. Pull the prop rod out of the bracket on the hood
and lower it into its holder.
2. Lower the hood and secure it by pushing down on
the front of the hood until it locks in place.
Opening the Rear Access
Cover
1. Unscrew the 2 hand knobs securing the rear access
cover to the machine (Figure 24).
