Greasing and Lubricating
the Tractor
Grease the tractor with a general-purpose grease
after every 25 operating hours or once a year,
whichever occurs first. Grease the tractor more
frequently when the operating conditions are
extremely dusty or sandy.
How to Grease the Tractor
1. Disengage the blade (PTO).
2. Shift the ground speed lever into Neutral.
3. Set the parking brake.
4. Stop the engine and wait for all moving parts
to stop.
5. Remove the ignition key.
6. Clean the grease fittings with a rag. Make sure
to scrape any paint off the front of the fittings.
7. Connect a grease gun to each fitting and pump
grease into it.
8. Wipe up any excess grease.
Where to Add Grease
Lubricate the front wheels and the steering
spindles until the grease begins to ooze out of the
bearings (Figure 18).

Engine Maintenance

Servicing the Engine Oil

Check the oil level daily or after every 8 hours.
Change the oil after the first 5 operating hours and
every 50 operating hours thereafter.
Note: Change the oil more frequently when
operating conditions are extremely dusty or sandy.
Oil Type: Detergent oil (API service SF, SG, SH,
SJ, or higher)
Crankcase Capacity: 48 oz. or 1-1/2 qt. (1400 cc
or 1.4 l)
Viscosity: See the table below.

Checking the Oil Level
1. Park the tractor on a level surface.
2. Disengage the blade (PTO).
3. Shift the ground speed lever into Neutral.
4. Set the parking brake.
5. Stop the engine and wait for all moving parts
to stop.
6. Remove the ignition key.
7. Open the hood.
8. Clean around the oil dipstick (Figure 20) so
that dirt cannot fall into the fill hole and
damage the engine.
